The local museum has a model collection of traditional fishing boats and in July and August there are several festivals including colourful street processions. 15 minutes away there is the baroque palace and Monastery of Mafra - don't miss the beautiful library - and lovely Sintra, so celebrated by Lord Byron, with its Royal Palaces and Toy Museum.
